St. Venerable Isaiah of Pechersk, the Laborious

According to Ecclesial calendar 28 May is Remembrance Day of St. Venerable Isaiah of Pechersk. St. Isaiah lived in XI-XII centuries.

Not much data about him. There is known that venerable father carried his exploit in Kyiv-Pechersk monastery. He united his monastic life to incessant labor and silence. It is known that man is tiring of useless conversations but not of labor. For such selfless life menologion calls him «The Laborious». Liturgical texts of Lavra indicate that hermit had a gift to struggle against demonic attacks.

This monastic elder reposed in 1115.

His relics are in Close (St. Antoniy) Caves of Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra. Also it possible to pray to St. Isaiah in the St. John the Forerunner Cathedral of Brooklyn, where always is a particle of his undecayable relics.
